Jeanette McDonald: Jeanette McDonald is back from her tour of professional dinner theater! Jeanette has been singing for as long as she can remember. Her passion for music has taken her down a long, exciting road. Born and raised in Quesnel, Jeannette sang in school choirs and local venues until she moved to Edmonton as a young adult to begin her professional musical career.
Jeanette spent a decade performing with Edmonton's Celebrations Dinner Theatre, a stint which took her through 14 different productions on a tour that also included Calgary and Winnipeg. Jeanette was also the winner of the 2002 Edmonton's Vocal Talent Search.
Since returning to Quesnel, Jeanette has continued to perform with several local bands. Quesnel Music is pleased to have Jeanette share her extensive experience with our local students.
JP Pinel: JP (John) Pinel, who has lived in Quesnel for 20 years, has been playing some type of musical instrument since the age of 12. JP is a skilled bass and guitar player, a teacher who also manages Quesnel Music, works in sales and as a service technician in the store. JP's first professional musical experience came at age 14 where he played guitar in his family's band.
JP also played in Jazz and Concert band throughout high school. JP continues to play in the local professional music scene and is an executive member of the “River City Music Association”. He can often be seen performing about town in events such as Billy Barker Days and Sylvia's Musicfest. . JP has been instructing and sharing his knowledge of bass and guitar with local students for ten years.
Grant is highly involved in the local music scene. He is an executive member of the “River City Music Association”, plays in a number of local bands, including "Frenzy," “Secret Happiness” and "The Jazztronauts."
Grant loves being able to pass on his love for music and his skill for drumming to his students. Grant has a special talent for communication, and uses varied methods for teaching the principles of drumming to his students. He utilizes traditional methods as well as video and the Internet to help his students sharpen their skills and achieve their musical goals.
Charmaine Clifford: Charmaine Clifford is a talented musician who has been playing piano since 1999. Charmaine has been dedicated to the Royal Conservatory of Music program, receiving First Class Honours for her Grade 10 completion, and is currently pursuing her ARCT.
Charmaine is no stranger to performing, and has played in the local festival for many years. She has also made several performances at the BC Provincials.
Charmaine began teaching others to play the piano at Quesnel Music in 2006. She enjoys working with young students and instilling in them the same love for piano performance that she has had for so many years.
Wilma Penner: Wilma Penner has 30 years of piano teaching under her belt, and has instructed students of all ages from young children to adults, beginners to seasoned pianists. Wilma is a gifted instructor who works both one-on-one with students as well as teaching group lessons.
Wilma particularly loves to inspire children and beginners to develop their skills in playing a variety of instruments, not just piano. Wilma explores a variety of musical styles with her students, working closely with them to help them find their "niche."
Wilma is a talented performer herself. She is also heavily involved in planning and overseeing local recitals and festivals.
Vagn Moore:
Vagn is a recent graduate and the newest addition to our team, but don’t let his age fool you! He has been musical from a very early age and after completing grade five of R.C.M formal piano, Vagn went on into high school performing in concert and jazz band winning the C.S.S Music Dept. Honour Student each year, traveling and helping the Jazz Band Class win gold and silver at the BC Interior Jazz Festival as well as silver twice at the National Musicfest in Ottawa and Richmond! Vagn has also been involved in many local musical theater productions and was instrumental in directing the band in the “Correlieu Players” rendition of “The Wedding Singer”.
Vagn’s accolades are too numerous to list but his passion for music and his ability to pick up any instrument and play it make him an invaluable member of our school! Vagn plays keyboards, guitar, saxophone and drums.
Jim LeClair: Jim began playing the guitar even before he hit the double digits in age. He eventually picked up the bass guitar as well.
Jim grew up in the era of social revolution where music was beginning to change dramatically with, and even define, the culture. He started his first band in 1965 at the age of just 14. You may still catch Jim referring to something as "groovy" from time to time.
Today Jim plays in the local classic rock band "Uncle Mom." He is also the lead singer and guitarist for the band "Bobby B," a group he has been a part of for 27 years and Jim also plays bass and vocals for a country/rock group “Blackwater.” Jim is thrilled to pass on guitar and bass skills to a whole new generation of young people.
Deni Stone: Deni picked up his first fiddle at age 7 and never put it down. He has since composed original fiddle music and participated in numerous fiddle competitions. In fact, Deni's most recent notable honor was being chosen as a finalist at the 2011 Canadian Grand Master Fiddling Championship in Ottawa, Ontario.
A few of Deni's other achievements include winning the Provincial Fiddle Championship of 2010 in Quesnel using his 5-string fiddle, and performing for a number of local events, including Billy Barker Days, the Relay for Life and the Art Walk.
Deni's love for spreading the seeds of music are evident in his grassroots efforts to start musical programs in Quesnel's elementary schools. This same passion extends to the studio where he teaches his pupils.
Debbie Bieswanger:
Debbie comes from a very musical background. She started singing publicly in her Dad’s band “Country Classic” twenty years ago and has been singing ever since. She comes from a family of five girls who all sing and have been heard around Quesnel over the years. You may have seen Debbie in the band called “Shotgun Rider” whom she has been a part of now for the last six years. Debbie has been teaching vocal lesson at Quesnel Music for two years and is thoroughly enjoying her new experience and sharing what she has learned.
